Costume suggestions for Ancient Night 2011

As we all know, our dinner this year themed Ancient.

We know all of you may have some issues with the dressing.

We are here to help and propose some dressing for you to follow.

We picked this theme because, we want to be the one and only.

I know some of you might be whining and complaining about this theme. Don't be.

It's only once a year, so have fun!!

We hope you can follow the theme to make the dinner super fun. 

Playing with costume is great entertainment.

We also suggest that you go and have your dress/clothing sew, because it's hard finding one.

2) Have accessories to help you with what you are wearing. Gold symbolize the ancient world.

3) Use toga is you can't find anything else. With leaves on your head.

Bangi or KL?

Bangi or KL? This is always been a debate in the life of Forensic students in UKM.

For the 1st and 2nd batch,
They experience their university life mostly around KL.

For the 3rd batch..
Our 1st year was in KL, then shifted to Bangi in our 2nd and 3rd year of learning.

For the 4th and 5th batch,
They started at Bangi until their 3rd year.

The main question now is...
Where will we going to be located in our 4th year?
Bangi or KL?

The answer is KL!!!

For fellow 3rd batch students..
Ready to pack your bags, we are going to KL on our final year!

UKM's First Woman Pro-chancellor

BANGI: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) now has its first woman pro-chancellor.

Kedah princess Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah (pic) is the university’s 10th pro-chancellor and the first woman to hold the position since the inception of the institution in 1970.

University chancellor Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir presented the princess with her credentials at the university yesterday.

Penyelarasan Kalendar Akademik Berperingkat

PUTRAJAYA: Penyelarasan kalendar akademik institusi pengajian tinggi awam (IPTA) negara akan dilakukan secara berperingkat bermula sesi akademik 2011/2012 dan dijangka beralih sepenuhnya pada sesi akademik 2013/2014. 

Penyelarasan itu akan menyaksikan tarikh pendaftaran pelajar baru dianjakkan dua minggu ke hadapan pada setiap sesi akademik yang akhirnya akan bermula pada bulan September berbanding Jun sebelum ini.Menteri Pengajian Tinggi, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, berkata antara rasional anjakan kalendar akademik ini adalah bagi memenuhi konsep perkongsian ilmu dengan masyarakat antarabangsa.Katanya, dalam proses pengantarabangsaan pengajian tinggi Malaysia, pelajar IPTA perlu didedahkan dalam senario pengajian tinggi antarabangsa melalui pendedahan budaya serta amalan luar. 

"Sebagai contoh pendedahan melalui Program Mobiliti Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand adalah peluang terbaik untuk mendedahkan pelajar-pelajar kita kepada amalan luar. 

"Namun peluang ini tidak dapat dimanfaatkan oleh pelajar tempatan disebabkan ketidaksamaan jadual dengan universiti di kedua-dua negara itu yang memulakan kalendar sesi akademik pada bulan September setiap tahun, menyamai amalan negara-negara maju," katanya kepada pemberita di sini hari ini. 

Beliau berkata penyelarasan ini juga membolehkan pelajar IPT ternama dunia datang ke negara ini untuk mempelajari dan mendapat pemindahan kredit minimum satu semester selain daripada pertukaran pelajar biasa. 
Justeru, katanya, penyelarasan kalendar dengan universiti ternama dunia boleh menguntungkan Malaysia untuk membolehkan pelajar antarabangsa berkongsi cara pembelajaran sekurang-kurangnya satu semester bersama pelajar tempatan. 

Di bawah kalendar baru, katanya pihak kementerian telah menetapkan tarikh pendaftaran pelajar baru bagi sesi akademik 2011/2012 pada 25 Julai, namun sedikit perubahan dilakukan di mana sesi pendaftaran pelajar baru ditetapkan pada minggu pertama September 2011. 

"Ia berikutan tempoh kuliah yang singkat antara sesi pendaftaran sehingga cuti Hari Raya Aidilfitri yang dijangka jatuh pada 31 Ogos," katanya. 

Bagi pelajar lama katanya pihak kementerian memberikan fleksibiliti kepada IPTA untuk menentukan sama ada pelajar terbabit wajib mengikuti kalendar asal ataupun kalendar baru iaitu pada 1 Ogos, 2011.

New Academic Term for Public Universities

PETALING JAYA: The start of the new academic term for public universities in September should not cause any confusion as these institutions of higher learning had been notified about the change, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

His recent statement that universities would start their new term in September this year instead of July was not “ground-breaking”, he said.

“They should know about this new calendar. The universities have been informed,” he said when questioned why some university students had not been informed of the change.

“It was not a new announcement as the minister (Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin) had mentioned this several times in the past.

“I was just confirming things to reporters who sought clarification,” he said yesterday.

 Asked about claims that students in medical faculties would start their semester in July instead of Sep­tember, Saifuddin said the implementation of the new calendar should be across the board.

Speaking in Temerloh on Saturday, Saifuddin had said the move was to align the Malaysian academic term with that of universities abroad and also to circumvent the institutions of higher learning in the country from losing outstanding Sijil Pela­jaran Malaysia candidates to foreign universities.

He had reportedly said bright SPM students hardly had time to pick the best local colleges and ultimately chose to study overseas.

When contacted, Mohamed Khaled, who was overseas, confirmed the new academic calendar.

It was learnt that although various vice-chancellors were not privy to the announcement, such a move had been on the cards for a while.

Khaled first spoke on the matter in December 2009 during a soft launch of the ministry’s nationwide carnival.

He had said then that Malaysia’s customary July intake hampered international student recruitment as many foreign students had yet to receive their high school exam results.

He said the July intake also complicated student mobility programmes.

Khaled had also said then that it was hoped the new academic calendar – which mirrors countries in the northern hemisphere – would further enhance Malaysia’s status as a regional education hub.

The Education and Higher Edu­cation Ministries had agreed in principle on the switch and a joint committee discussed the final de­­tails last year, said former Higher Education secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Zulkefli A. Hassan, a committee member.

According to the Institute of International Education, Malaysia is the 11th most preferred study destination in the world, with around 2% of the global international student market.

Forensic Camp 2010/2011

After a proper and precise planning, UKM CSIs are going for a camping.

Venue: The Woods Resort, Ulu Yam, Selangor.

Date: 2-3 October 2010

DAY 1

Packing done, now it's the day of the main event.

The day started with people gathering at the KBH foyer.

Everyone are busy carrying their own stuff and checking out their check list.

Making sure everything that are needed will not be forgotten.

Everyone has nothing to do, while waiting to reach the destination.

So everyone is just having fun taking pictures.

Upon arriving there, another short briefing was held to guide all the anxious participants.

Then, straight away to the camp site.

Building and rearranging the tents.

Then, activities started at the hall there.

Ice breaking and games were played to know each other better.

Especially the seniors and juniors.

When night greets, activities continues.

DAY 2

Starting the day with river travelling.

Prank for the juniors.

A tradition that is never ending.

To all juniors, that what we call a free make over.

It was a great and successful camp.
